Provenance

A field value remembers whether it came from the platform, from Capsure AI, or from a person.

Provenance is where a field value came from. Capsure keeps three sources:

  • Platform. Capsure filled it from a system action, an import, or a calculation.
  • AI. Capsure AI wrote it, after someone confirmed.
  • Manual. A person typed it.

The source is a fact about that value, not a permission. You can still edit a manual field if your role allows the edit. Changing it records the new source.

Provenance is not a document trail and not an audit log of who signed in. The audit log is under Administration. Provenance sits on the field.
